There are many good reasons why you or a member of your family might wish to have access to a female specialist.
The London Independent Hospital, which is part of BMI Healthcare, the UK's leading provider of independent healthcare, recognises that many patients, for whatever reason, would prefer to be seen by a female doctor.
The Hospital currently has access to 24 female consultants across 15 distinct specialities.

For those with health insurance a GP referral is usually required.
Sometimes, a consultant will see a self-paying patient who does not have medical insurance without a GP referral. You should check with the consultant's secretary before coming to the hospital.
Click here if you wish to enquire further or to make an appointment please dial 020 7780 2400 and ask for the Reservations Department.
The hospital also has up to 8 female therapists available for physiotherapy, speech therapy, hand therapy and women's health (eg incontinence problems). If you wish to make an appointment please dial 020 7780 2541.
This web site details all the female consultants and therapists who are available for consultation and who would provide treatment if necessary. The hospital also has a large number of female nurses and other support staff.
However, if treatment is required, it may be that a male nurse or other health professional may be involved to some extent with your care. If this would cause you concern, then you should make this known to the consultant and/or the consulting room sister. We will do our utmost to help you but due to local staffing requirements, this might not always be possible.
